I work hard. I play hard. I live hard. And I pray hard.
Life doesn't get better than this.
I’ve been very lucky to hold a lot of positions, from the office minion to the pack leader, from nonprofit to lots of profit, from the suburbs to the cities. This is my story:
Before becoming a residential real estate agent, Emily was a digital marketing contractor and a multimedia journalist.
Taking on many roles - as 21st-century, multimedia journalists do - she was a freelance reporter, producer, videographer and photographer from 2006 to 2012 for various publications and blogs, most notably MSNBC New York, NBC Universal, USAToday.com and The Arizona Republic.
She graduated in May 2012 with both her Master’s and Bachelor's degrees in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. She embraced college with the guidance of The Barrett Honors College, graduating summa cum laude and receiving honorary acceptance to Kappa Tau Alpha National Honor Society with the top 10 percent of her graduating class.
Just prior to graduation in 2012, Emily started her own contracting company, EMedia LLC. She hit the ground running with the advice and assistance of new coworkers, Vuurr Digital Marketing, out of Gangplank coworking space in Chandler, AZ. She worked as Vuurr's tech copywriter and editor, and later a project manager for many of the agency's clients.
After shaking lots of hands and garnering a few more clients, Emily saw the opportunity to move her LLC to San Francisco, CA while contributing to the co-founding of Levers, a predictive analytics startup. At Levers, she helped the team create a brand and establish its marketing strategy, as well as manage contributions to both its sales and support teams.
A lover of real estate (a family business for generations), she soon realized House Hunters, Love it or List it and daily Redfin updates weren’t enough to satisfy her thirst for real estate. Emily began dialing down her digital marketing business to allow for study, license and eventually selling of residential real estate in the Silicon Valley and San Francisco’s South Bay Area. After a brief - but very fun - year working real estate in the Bay Area, Emily moved to Austin, Texas with her husband in September 2014. Now a real estate license holder in both Texas and California, she uses her EmilyRoss.com website to provide market information, local news and support for homebuyers in both states, focusing primarily on Austin's central corridor.
Born and raised in sunny Scottsdale, AZ, Emily spends most of her weekends outside hiking, cycling, practicing photography and blogging for her and her husband’s travel website, AboutGoingOverboard.com. On work breaks, she likes to keep up with local and tech news, new land regs and teaches herself HTML and CSS.
